We’re thrilled to announce that Pitch Bookouture is back for another year running! This year the event will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. GMT on Tuesday 5th December.

On this day, writers of commercial fiction can pitch their novels directly to the editorial team using the hashtag #PitchBookouture on X (formerly Twitter) and by completing our online form.

Please note that the form is currently not accessible and will only open at 7 a.m. GMT on 5th December and will close at 7 p.m. GMT.

If we love the sound of your pitch, we will email you to find out more. You may be asked to forward your manuscript to us and all of those asked to submit will receive short editorial feedback.

Our favourite commercial pitch will be awarded a thirty-minute phone consultation with a member of our editorial team. We will contact the winner by email by the end of Tuesday 19th December.

You can read the full terms and conditions here.

FAQs

From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on 5th December 2023, tweet the hook of your novel in under 280 characters using the #PitchBookouture hashtag on X (formerly Twitter) and fill in our online form.

Please note that this is slightly different to previous years and that to be considered you must submit your answer to us using the online form. You can also use optional hashtags to indicate the genre of your novel – please see a list of hashtags below.

If we’re interested in what we see, one of our team will email you. At this point, you may be asked to forward your manuscript. After reading your work, if we do not wish to progress further, we will offer short editorial feedback.

We accept both unagented and agented submissions and are open to commercial fiction of any genre. This isn’t about how many likes your tweet gets. We will read and consider every single entry submitted via our online form.

Our favourite pitch of the day be awarded a thirty-minute phone consultation or online chat (depending on their preference) with a member of our editorial team. We’ll contact the winner by email by the end of Tuesday 19th December.

Yes

Absolutely. We accept submissions from around the world.

Yes!

We suggest that you schedule your tweet in advance. And remember, we are always open to submissions via our website: www.bookouture.com/submit-your-manuscript.

We will reply to all full submissions that we request to see within four weeks.

If you don’t get an email, that means we don’t feel your pitch is quite right for us at the moment. Remember, you can submit another book to us any time at www.bookouture.com/submit-your-manuscript.

We’re looking for stories that fit into a specific genre – see below for a list! – and that entertain readers first and foremost. Commercial fiction is accessible and ideally appeals to a wide audience. Plot and character are at the heart of commercial fiction, in contrast to literary fiction, which might place more of a focus on form and style.

Please find a list of hashtags below. If you’re struggling to find an exact fit, feel free to use multiple hashtags – or to not use any at all. #PP – Police Procedural #CT – Crime Thriller #PT – Psychological Thriller #DT – Domestic Thriller #WF – Women’s Fiction #HF – Historical Fiction #R – Romance #CL – Chick Lit #SF – Science Fiction #FF – Fantasy Fiction

We’re so looking forward to reading your pitches. Good luck!
