Kerry Wilkinson signs up his 50th novel to Bookouture

We are thrilled to announce that Kerry Wilkinson has signed a new deal with Bookouture, which will include Wilkinson’s 50th published novel.

Publishing Director Ellen Gleeson has signed a new deal for four psychological thrillers direct with bestselling author Kerry Wilkinson, the first of which will be Kerry’s 50th published novel.

With the working title Keep Your Friends Close, about a peaceful street of neighbours who are not all they seem, Kerry’s 50th book continues his streak of gripping psychological thrillers with domestic, hooky concepts and explosive twists.

Kerry has sold over two million copies, with 1.7 million sales coming from Bookouture-published titles. He is the winner of the International Thriller Award Best Ebook Original prize and of the Romantic Novelists’ Association Young Adult Romantic Novel of the Year.

Somerset-born and now living in Canada, Kerry’s writing career began with self-publishing before signing with a literary agent and publishing the Jessica Daniel crime thriller series with Pan Macmillan in the UK. Seeing Bookouture’s successes, Kerry reached out in 2017 and went on to sign Ten Birthdays. Together with Bookouture he has now published 43 titles including bestsellers The Girl Who Came Back, Two Sisters and The Child in the Photo.

His fiction work spans multiple genres, including 17 psychological thrillers, the 15-book Jessica Daniel police procedural series, the Andrew Hunter private investigator series, the Whitecliff Bay mystery series, a YA speculative mystery and standalone romcoms.

In 2023, Kerry wrote in The Bookseller about his experience of autism as an adult, how autism has impacted his publishing career in both positive and negative ways, and how the publishing industry can be exclusionary to autistic people.

Reflecting on 50 books, Kerry said,

‘I have killed so many people. I’ve made quite a few disappear – although, in mitigation, I’ve brought a couple back. I’ve messed up weddings, relationships, births, birthdays, and anniversaries. I’ve made crazy people think they’re fine and fine people think they’re crazy. I’ve burnt down houses, broken into others and burgled some more. And you know what? Not only will I do it again, I’m about to do it for the fiftieth time. It’s a right laugh – and I’ve only ever learned one lesson. You do not, under any circumstances, ever, harm a dog.

His editor Ellen Gleeson said,

‘Kerry’s books keep me completely gripped every single time but they also make me laugh my head off! It’s such a joy to look back and admire the huge scope of his career: writing 50 books is an incredible accomplishment. Kerry has an unrivalled understanding of what makes a small town tick, and his mastery of plotting and pacing is second to none. It’s a pleasure and privilege to get to be the first to read his novels, and I can’t wait to get Book 50 out into the world.
