Publisher's summary

Tracy finds her husband having breakfast at the granite-topped kitchen island when she drops the bomb that will implode her marriage: “I want a divorce.” Their son cries for his mommy. And hours later, Tracy disappears. Has she really left her child behind—or are they all in terrible danger?

Tracy and Malcolm Cowan have everything they ever wanted. Their world revolves around their beautiful little boy Finn, with his father's pale blue eyes and mother’s blonde hair. Tracy never has to think about the darkness in her past. The things she’s never told her husband.

One cold morning, their quiet suburban street awakens to shouting floating on the breeze over the picket fence. Tracy storms out the front door, slamming it behind her.

But then, Tracy disappears. The next day, Malcolm is marched down the porch steps into the back of a waiting police cruiser.

You’ll think that Malcolm has hurt his lovely wife. That he’s the one who tore his perfect family apart.

But you don’t know about the young woman’s body found the same day.

Or why Tracy can never come back, even if she wanted to....

Fans of Gone Girl, The Couple Next Door, and T.M. Logan will be totally hooked.

Had SO MANY TWISTS!! A+ rating

The narrator was the worst part of the book but that’s me being super critical. Little slow at first, took me maybe 7-10 chapters to get into it. I thought I had it figured out early on but was wrong. Later I was pretty positive how I thought it would end,l BUT was WRONG! I listen to so many suspense/mystery books & usually have the endings figured out. Impressive - lots of twists throughout the book, even up to last 15 min! Def recommend

twisty

Matthew Farrell never disappoints! I love all of his books and this one might be my fav! Super twisty and complex story but it came together in the end quite nicely.

I’m still waiting for the twist…

It started a bit slow and became more interesting. However, it never became the mystery/thriller I was hoping for. The ending was a bit disappointing as the killer and the killer’s motivates were not surprising. The narrator’s accent and voice was very grating and seemed out of place for the characters.

thr dumbest detectives ever

I'm getting a little tired of these mystery stories that seem to be churned out quickly and with little suspense or character development. the cops and detectives act more like the keystone cops, the characters are all unlikeable
