Story
Moving to Prospect Close has been everything I’d hoped for. In the city, Oliver and I barely saw each other, irritable at home and rushing around after the kids. But here, the neighbors have been so friendly and welcoming, and we’re now at barbeques and playdates every weekend, all together, as a family. It’s the type of life I always dreamed of. One that’s a million miles from...before. Not that Oliver would know anything about that.

Publisher's summary
He thinks his secret is safe. But she knows the truth....
My husband is a doctor. He’s smart and charming, and everybody trusts him. Except me.
On the surface, it looks like I have it all–the perfect marriage, the perfect husband, the perfect life. But it’s far from the truth.
Doctor Drew Devlin is not the respectable figure he makes out to be. The reason we moved to this beautiful, old property with a gorgeous view of the sea was because we needed to put our past behind us. It should’ve been a fresh start for us both.
Except I’ve discovered my husband has been lying to me again. He’s using the power he has in his job to mess with people’s lives and to get exactly what he wants–no matter who it hurts.
But he’s underestimated me. I’ve had plenty of time, in this big, isolated house, to think about all of his mistakes.
And my husband has no idea what’s about to happen next....
From the number one best-selling author of The Passenger, an absolutely gripping psychological thriller packed with jaw-dropping twists that will keep you listening late into the night. If you love Behind Closed Doors, Gone Girl, and The Housemaid, you’ll be hooked on The Doctor’s Wife.

Cat Kinsella overcame a troubled childhood to become a detective constable. When she’s called to the scene of a murder, not far from the pub her estranged father still runs, she discovers that Alice Lapaine is dead. Cat and her team suspect Alice’s husband, until she receives a phone call that links the victim to Maryanne Doyle, a teenage girl who went missing in Ireland 18 years earlier. For Sam Lovell, organising the summer festival in her hometown is one of the highlights of her year. It’s not always smooth sailing, but she loves to see Porthmellow’s harbour packed with happy visitors and being on the committee has provided a much-needed distraction from the drama in her family life (and the distinct lack of it in her love life). Story
A recent transplant from sunny California, life in the London suburbs is not what Taylor Watson expected. Far from the West End shops and city lights she imagined, she finds herself pregnant and lonely, with a husband frequently away on business and only social media to keep her company. It’s only after Taylor joins a book club and a walking group, that she finally starts to make some real-life friends. Before long, Taylor’s hanging out with Anna, Sarah, Simon, and Caroline, but, as her pregnancy progresses and her friendships blossom, a sense of unease develops.

Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia. But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.

The perfect murder(s)?
**Possible spoilers here**
Everyone was guilty in this story. Murder is never justified, of course. But Drew was a criminal in his own right. Not only was he a “cheater” in his marriage, but he also cheated on exams to qualify to become a doctor in the first place. He’d prescribed medications that led to a patient’s death. And now he committed malpractice when Rory came to him for a consultation when he disposed of the vial of blood and delayed getting him to a specialist he believed Rory needed urgently. He even told Alice about it, and said it would be easier for them if something happened to Rory, Alice was complicit by saying nothing to try to stop him.
Also, there was criticism in how Fern got angry when she found out Drew wasn’t faithful. How was she supposed to react??
Rory himself ultimately turned against Fern.
None of this justifies Fern’s criminal actions, but it seems “Roger” doesn’t seem to realize that his friend Drew has committed plenty of crimes of his own. He just doesn’t have the whole picture.
All that being said, I will probably listen to the 2nd book to see what happens next, because it is a good story.
Both narrators were excellent and captured the characters perfectly.

Awesome
I love that the author keeps me on my toes! Who would've thought that a good doctor could be so corrupt! I highly recommend this book as it will leave you turning the pages well after your normal bedtime.

On the fence about this one
Here’s the thing….storyline was interesting, the book was just the right amount of time without all the extra descriptions but I didn’t like a single character! They were all low life’s for one reason or another so there was no one to cheer for. Then what happens….it’s a sequel and I’ve already downloaded the next book. I’m hoping there is at least one person with redeeming values. If not, I might have to skip more titles from this author.

Absolutely perfect! 💯
The storyline would be a great read; however, the stellar narration made it REAL! The narration brought the story to life with the inflection and expression. Kudos to all involved. I'll be looking for more by this writer and narrators.
