Publisher's summary

He loves you now. He loved her first.

I’ve fallen in love with a man called Sam. And he’s perfect, just perfect.

It’s a whirlwind romance. And when our dream home falls through just before our wedding, we decide to move in with his parents. He says his mother, Evelyn, is the sweetest person. But I’m not so sure.

She’s obsessively protective over Sam. She wants to know where he is all the time. She wakes us up in the morning, bustling into our room like he’s a small child, not a grown man. She doesn’t want me to be alone with him. And with every day that passes—as I keep having accidents I can’t believe are coincidental—I start to fear more that she doesn’t want me to marry her son.

That she wants to be the only person he will ever love.

Then I overhear an argument between her and Sam’s dad. Evelyn has a secret. And it changes everything I thought I knew about the family I’m marrying into.

From that moment, I know that if I want to make it to my wedding day alive, I will need to be very, very careful....

An absolutely thrilling and gripping psychological suspense novel, perfect for fans of Shalini Boland, Shari Lapena, and The Woman in the Window.

Entertaining read….

The book was a pretty good listen. The main character and her husband did work a nerve though! But the twist, although nothing mind blowing, was pretty good.

Enjoyed this one.

She was weak and too much of a victim, but overall the story was a very enjoyable domestic drama, so I gave it 5 stars,

It was a good story

I hated how weak she is. She stayed a victim. But the story was interesting.

The Mother-in-Law

If you are looking for a book that is full of tension and suspense, this is It! I didn't want to put it down! Definitely will be reading more from this author. You think you have worked it all out and still didn't guess the ending. The narration was very good.

Nice read

Wasn’t “on the edge of my seat exciting”, and the weakness of certain female characters annoyed me. However, it did have nice twists which kept me intrigued and the performance was enjoyable. Also appreciate that there was no fowl language (a real plus these days). I will be reading more from Karen King

Twists and Turns

This was a good Who dun-it story. I changed my guess a few times during the reading, as clues would appear and I would question who the "bad guy" really was. I totally enjoyed this story and the narrator changing her voice for male and female characters did a good job.

better than expected.

as always there will be no spoilers in my review.
this was the classic story with a few twists. It was pretty steady paced . I had to concentrate a bit in the early pages as it goes from past to present. easily outlined but I struggled a min
without giving anything away. I'll say That this book stayed with me a few days. I even confusingly so took thos book into my next book. took me a few chapters to catch on to what I was doing. similar narrator and subject matter. anyway. this wasn't a waste of credit & if you are lucky you caught it on a daily deal.

Unbelievable Situations

Narration was good but the story’s protagonist was so clueless I could barely stand it & didn’t believe for a minute. Poor girl preyed upon by the rich, soon to be In-laws. The fiancé’ was even more clueless & in denial most of the book. I’m so glad it’s finally over. Don’t waste a credit on this one. It’s just plain dumb.

Too Much!

The writer repeats her lines over and over until it gets ridiculous. Not worth a read.

Uggg!

I’m glad I stayed with it till the end, cause the end saved this story, a story with too many words and too much mind chatter. it’s really hard to believe that a supposedly intelligent woman could make such stupid decisions. No one claimed it was a female empowerment story.
