Publisher's summary

Stumbling through the pitch-black forest, twigs scratching her bare feet, she sobs as she imagines her children crying for their mommy. By now, everyone will know she is missing. Please, please let me find the way home. Before he comes back.

As Agent Nadine Finch rushes to investigate the murder of newlywed Nikki Darnell in Ocala National Forest, Florida, fear floods her body. She swore she’d never set foot there again, not since the case 15 years ago which tore her life apart. But taking in the triangular cuts scarring Nikki’s perfect pale skin, she knows she must put her own traumatic past aside to find justice for Nikki and her inconsolable husband.

Discovering water in Nikki’s lungs and certain the triangular wounds were made by arrowheads, Nadine must convince her team of her terrifying theory: that Nikki was hunted down and drowned before being left for them to find. But what monster would do such a thing? And why? Then, another woman, a mother of two, is discovered in the woods, with tell-tale arrow marks all over her body.

Recognizing her as a local waitress, Nadine has just traced the arrow heads to an outdoors store when her own partner disappears, and she receives a chilling note: “Three little birds. So pretty in their cages. I caught them all for you.”

Now the rules of this twisted game are terrifyingly clear. A killer obsessed with the case in Nadine’s past is closing in, targeting a stranger; then an acquaintance; then someone close to her. Will she need to sacrifice herself to save one of her own? And can she stop this deadly hunter before more innocent lives are taken?

Jaw-dropping and packed with twists and turns. Fans of Robert Dugoni, Lisa Gardner, and Rachel Caine will be totally addicted to The Hunted Girls.

Excellent Procedural...

I hadn’t realized this is the second book in the Nadine Finch series. I have never read anything by this author before and I will surely be purchasing the first book in the series. I can say that this book can easily be listened to as a standalone. All relationships and past history was covered and I didn’t feel like I had missed something.
In this book there is a serial killer stalking Ocala , FL. The protagonist is Nadine Finch. She is a profiler for the FBI who has received notoriety for apprehending a copycat serial killer. She doesn’t realize it but eventually the killer issues a challenge directly to her. With a serial killer for a mother and a brother also incarcerated, Nadine feels an understanding to the antagonist and a knowledge of the serial killer mind unique to someone in her position.
This book is very well written. It is a taught procedural, suspenseful and moves along at a good clip with plenty of red herrings. It certainly earned my time and credit.
Laurence Bouvard does an outstanding job narrating. She actually does male voices quite well.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

I had to stop ready due to the gross sex

hate books where author combines romance (sex in this one) with mystery - give me a die-hard police procedural any day, but PLEASE hold the Harlequin silliness, it is truly revolting.

Powerful suspense

A fast paced chase through Florida’s less seen settings. Engaging characters and plenty of grim details and heart stopping action.

Kept Me Guessing -- And Listening!

Jenna’s second Agent Nadine Finch thriller, The Hunted Girls, has just what I love in a summer thriller! Jenna planted enough red herrings to send me off in the wrong direction several times, but then reeled me back in when the killer was revealed. The book didn’t end there, though. There was plenty more action that kept me enthralled to the end.

I loved her descriptions of the Florida wilds and appreciated the many characters who turned up, each with distinctive, memorable personalities. Nadine’s investigation team are a great group to get to know. I liked Nadine’s character from start to end, and enjoyed watching her develop as she worked toward her goals.

This is a great thriller to read on a hot summer day in your hammock. But it has enough scary action that you might want to have covers handy – to hide under!

The narrator, Ms. Bouvard, has an amazing array of realistic accents and she deilvers an excellent performance!

Yes, yes, and more YES!

I loved this book even more than the last! Great twists and turns! Still a little aggravated at the mispronounciation of some words, but I'll get over it. Otherwise, the narration is great, and the book is fantastic!

A heroine tending toward damsel in distress

Nadine, like many of her peers in detective fiction land is intelligent, plays well with others, is beautiful and meets the love of her life on the job. Like most of the leading men her BF has a body of a Calvin Klein ad, strong care taking instincts and the maturity of a 7 year old. Unlike many of her peers Nadine is not driven to find justice. There is a high body count in this one and loads of graphic, gruesome female suffering. While this is going on Nadine takes breaks for sumptuous sex where of course she has hands free simultaneous “release” while arching her back with her BF every time. Or she endulges in a fried meal of potato’s and beef provided by BF while victims are dying at the hands of a sadistic serial killer. BFs most common words are “you need to eat, you need to rest and you need to sleep.” Little Nadine spends a lot of time sobbing and clinging to her super hero. In other words the romance here is pinging high in the cringe zone. And Nadine is not a sympathetic heroine—she is too fragile, too soft, too simpering and too pale. Even after apparent training for the FBI she is unchanged, out of shape and self centered. But BF is of course always loving and understanding in a nauseating extreme. I don’t know what he sees in her.
