Publisher's summary

Zoe fainted on her wedding day, and she never knew why. She’s always felt sure something bad happened. Ten years later, she’s going to find out what....

It was supposed to be the happiest day of her life. Zoe was sitting in her hotel room, in her perfect white dress, looking forward to the moment when she would make kind, handsome Toby her husband.

Then, there was a blank.

They said she must have fainted, overcome with emotion. But nothing felt quite right afterward. Did something happen in that missing time?

Now, Toby and Zoe have two beautiful children and a perfect life. They’re planning their 10-year anniversary party for their family and friends. The invitations have been sent, the food ordered. They’re going back to the grand hotel where they got married.

But as the anniversary gets closer, it becomes clear not everyone is looking forward to celebrating. She catches Toby lying about where he’s been. One of her best friends seems to be ignoring her. And someone is spreading stories that might stop the party from happening at all.

Zoe is increasingly sure that she doesn’t have the full story. But does she want to know the truth if it will destroy everything?

From the million-copy best-selling author, this totally gripping psychological thriller will have you hooked to the last jaw-dropping twist. Perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl, and The Wife Between Us.

Nothing is as it seems

This is a very intriguing suspenseful story. Lost memories are dangerous when they start to return for Zoe. I couldn't stop listening. The epilogue was very chilling. Kate Villa does a great narration. I'm looking forward to more books by Shalini Boland.

Slow read with interesting ending

I definitely wouldn't call this an unputdownable book of any kind. It was very slow until the end. The epilogue was interesting. Some of the twist ending was predictable, but not all of it. There weren't really any characters I liked, especially Zoe. She was a weak and needy person. This was pretty much a typical British mystery story. I'm finding so many of them that are so similar in writing styles, etc. I don't really believe Zoe's memory was gone for 10 years and suddenly floods back in one day.

More Memory Loss

The only reason there's a book is because the protagonist temporarily loses her memory. I know that happens in real life, but it just seems to have become a convenient plot device at this point. The answer ends up being entirely unsurprising anyway, and the epilogue is unnecessary--unless the author is planning on a second book, which isn't indicated. I liked the main character's father, but one character isn't enough to keep this book.

Loved this book. Didn't see the ending coming nor did I expect the ending. Will read another by Shalini Boland and listen to another by narrator Katie Villa. Job well done on both accounts!!

Good listen!

Several moments I sat in my car just to finish a chapter. Kept me interested and the twists we're good. Ending was wrapped up nicely.
