Publisher's summary

An absolutely heart-stopping serial killer thriller

She opens her eyes and struggles to make out the dark room around her. One thing she knows instantly - her wrists are bound and she’s tied to a chair, unable to move. As she screams for help, she hears footsteps outside. He’s coming....

Fifteen-year-old Lindy Rosen has been having nightmares for weeks, waking in a panic, screaming that there’s a man in her room watching her sleep. Her parents assumed it was her overactive imagination, but when one morning they find Lindy missing from her bedroom, they’re not so sure. Detective Jenna Alton is called in to investigate.

Within hours of the schoolgirl going missing, the kidnapper reaches out to Jenna with a video of Lindy bound and tied to a chair, crying to be set free. And a simple message - you’ve got 24 hours to find her or I kill her.

Jenna’s team work around the clock to try to find Lindy before the deadline, but time runs out, and Jenna receives a devastating message. The killer has made good on his promise. He’s playing a dangerous game. And no one knows what his next move will be.

But just two days later, one of Lindy’s school friends is taken in the middle of the night and the countdown begins again.

Completely addictive from the very start, if you like Lisa Regan, Karin Slaughter, and Rachel Abbott you’ll love Whisper in the Night.

Alton was very whinny

I found Alton to be bossy and whinny at the same time!! Not attractive qualities for a sting female-

GREAT ADDITION TO THIS SERIES!!!

I found this to be one of the better books in this entire series. It was also a decent length. Some of Hood's books are too short for the value of my credit. I'm definitely glad to see that Hood has settled on Patricia Rodriguez as the narrator. It's just not right to change narrators with each new release. It absolutely kills the series. Susan Ericksen or Therese Plummer would be PERFECT for this entire series.

Best one yet

Great story! Great development of characters and their relationships with each, except for Kane & Alton. Author doesn’t need to worry about pursuing their relationship...look at Richard Castle books. Nikki Heat and Rook have been married for 3 books and the stories are still great.

Could not put it down!

Great job once again. I love these characters. I think SOB was overdone a bit but it was a good twist to have someone other than Jenna go missing. I really thought the bad guy was going to be a different character but there were plenty of red herrings to keep me guessing until the end.

Book 6 was D.K. Hood's best yet! It was absolutely amazing! I had no idea who did it until the very end!
It was a very original story line and kept my attention the entire story! I absolutely LOVE the dynamic between Kane & Alton and cannot wait for Book 7!!!

5 STARS. D.K Hood's books should be a TV series.

Another winner for D.K. Hood. A very fast paced thriller with a breathtaking story. I couldn't stop listening. I love Kane. Jenna is a lucky sheriff to have him watching her back. This series has a great team of characters that have become real to me as I read the books. The descriptions of Montana are beautiful and despite the serial killers, I'd go live there in a second.

behold The Shadow Man!

I can't stop saying how much I love this series! The killer is so cunning that you keep wondering whether or not this one really will escape! My only complaint throughout this series is that Sheriff Jenna Alton appears too weak for the boss. She needs more backbone. Otherwise, I enjoy the camaraderie between the entire team and love how they solve this latest mystery. I highly recommend this series!
