Publisher's summary

The unputdownable new thriller from the best-selling author of the next girl.

She’s just the girl he’s looking for…

A young woman falls from a vehicle speeding down a quiet road. Battered and bruised, she turns her head to the person who comes to her aid. ‘Help her’, she whispers before her eyes close.

Days later, the body of another young girl is found in a shallow grave just a few miles away. The similarities between the two girls are startling, same age, same frail body, same shocking red hair.

As the town fears there’s a serial killer living amongst them, Detective Gina Harte must put aside her own struggles at home, and catch the killer before he finds another perfect girl.

An absolutely heart-stopping crime thriller from Carla Kovach – if you like Lisa Gardner, Robert Bryndza or Clare Mackintosh, Her Pretty Bones will have you hooked.

Another great thriller

Lots of twists and turns. When you think you have it figured out, you find you are wrong which makes this book even better. On to the next in the series!

Too much of same thing

Tired of everything centering around her guilt that her husband died. Move on. Also glad she wasn’t hurt again as many of these novels have their main character hurt every novel. The first novel was a little unbelievable that she went back to work and her boss gave into her. Not reality.

So far the 2 books in this series I have listened to the storylines aren’t bad. Would have been better to leave the guilt about husband gone in the future.

Hard to Follow

I loved the first two Gina Hart books, but this one was not my favorite. I found it incredibly difficult to follow. I forced my way through to the end, and I'm still not 100% sure what the story was about. If not for the first two, I'd give up on the series. Hopefully the rest are more like them.

Good story. Rough subject

I love the narrator and am fond of the main character. I really struggled with this storyline. Forcing drugs on young girls… it really was hard to listen to at some Points. Otherwise all good.

Another winner

I always love Gina Hart stories. This one isn't my favorite but I love seeing the character of Gina grow and change, especially with having just read the last story. All the characters are great and I enjoy that we get a glimpse of what the villain is up to without giving too much away. This story didn't have the same suspense for me as the previous two did but still very interesting.

Thriller with a bang

I love how the author portrays the evolution of the story: differing timelines and perspectives build up and lead to the climax with a bang. I have listened to the others in this series and enjoyed this story, albeit not as much as the first ones. The narrator performed well and I was entertained throughout. I intend to listen to more from the author and the series.

Good Series

Not my favorite book of the series but a quick read with a solid story. Enough to make me stick with the series.

My least fave of the 3, but still hope for more

I am a big fan of DI Harte. I love how Kovach takes a realistic female perspective. She is not super human, but still manages to triumph out of sheer grit and perseverance. This book takes on some social issues which I also very much appreciate, and it really does extend empathy to victims of poverty and drug abuse. I found this one slightly less gripping and compelling than previous books. Maybe it was less "action" involving Gina herself? Or also a very complex plot line involving multiple narratives which were slightly harder to track and keep up with in an audio format. So, I liked it but not as much as the other two. However, I still hope for more DI Harte stories because she is a character worth developing and following and we need more like her!
