Publisher's summary

An absolutely gripping thriller with pause-resisting suspense

Lucy watches the doctor leave, then turns to the nameless victim on the table. "I promise I will catch whoever did this to you," she whispers.

In charge of a new team, Detective Lucy Harwin is called out to attend the discovery of a woman’s body in an abandoned, crumbling church and is quickly plunged into a case that will test her leadership skills to the limit.

With no leads except the crudely-fashioned crucifix the victim was displayed on, Lucy is at a complete loss. That is, until another body turns up: an elderly woman who devoted her life to the church.

Faced with a killer stalking the streets of her small coastal town, while also throwing herself into work to forget the love of her life, Lucy’s first case is turning into a nightmare.

Linking the killer to the church where her own teenage daughter volunteers, it seems the threat is quickly drawing closer to Lucy and those she loves. Can she catch this monster and prevent a tragedy that will tear her world apart?

An addictive and pause-resisting crime thriller that will hook fans of Patricia Gibney, LJ Ross, and Angela Marsons from the very first minute.

Great book, but it’s the first in the series, not the third

I really enjoyed this book, but it was slightly spoiled by the fact that, somehow, audible has this as the third book in the series, NOT the third, so I essentially knew the ending from the very beginning since the second book in the series talked about it.

I hope audible fixes this issue soon.

Book ONE

I will save you all some frustration if you read Dark House first and find it confusing: This is the first book! It will make so much more sense if you read this one first. Otherwise, great novel and great narrator!

Almost a Prequel Without a Cause

It took me about 3/4 of the way through this novel to realize how this novel could work as a prequel. When writing a prequel, it should serve a purpose to inform the previous novels. Well it does, like I say, serve this purpose close to the end, there are at least four major events over the course of this novel that would’ve informed the behavior and the references in the previous two novels but didn’t. It almost makes me wonder if this author thought up this prequel after-the-fact to answer some questions from the first novel. Strategic authors plan their novels ahead so that if something in the future needs to inform something in the past, they’ve incorporated information into the earlier novels.

Otherwise it’s a perfectly fine novel and I enjoyed it.

Great book but out of order

Enjoyed the story and narration. Unfortunately it was not clear on Audible which is the first book in the series. This is the first

Is this supposed to be book 1?

I think the author has these listed incorrectly. I loved them but feel at though they should’ve be ready in reverse order

THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK IN THE Lucy Harwin series!!

Do not be fooled. If you are just starting the series, START WITH THIS BOOK. It was a little difficult to get into only because I had started with the book that was tagged "Book 1". "Book 1" references this one multiple times. Do yourself a favor START HERE!!!!

This is the first book in the series

For some strange reason audible issued this series in the wrong order.

Awesome series, just read this one first!!

Good book but it’s out of order!

This book is considered the first book in the series. The narrator literally says that at the end of the book! It’s good and you can still follow the storyline even if you listen to other books first, but just giving a heads up to anyone who wants to know.
