Publisher's summary

You trust her with your family. Would you trust her with your life?

Mark and Melissa Cain are thrilled to have found Jade, a babysitter who is brilliant with their young children. Having seen her own house burn to the ground, Jade needs them as much as they need her. Moving Jade into the family home can only be a good thing, can’t it?

As Mark works long hours as a police officer and Melissa struggles with running a business, the family become ever more reliant on their babysitter, who is only too happy to help. And as Melissa begins to slip into depression, it’s Jade who is left picking up the pieces.

But Mark soon notices things aren’t quite as they seem. Things at home feel wrong, and as Mark begins to investigate their seemingly perfect sitter, what he discovers shocks him to his core. He’s met Jade before. And now he suspects he might know what she wants …

Mark is in a race against time to protect his family. But what will he find as he goes back to his family home?

If you loved reading The Girl on the Train, Behind Closed Doors and The Sister, you’ll love the suspense of The Babysitter. This unpausable listen will have you turning the pages until way after dark.

Missed the Mark

The story had potential but missed the mark for me, too many things that didn’t make sense. Tamsin Kenard is one of my favorite narrators and as usual did a good job with a not so good book

How stupid were these parents!!!!!!!

I'm sorry but this book started out very good but as I read on I was so annoyed with how unbelievably STUPID!!!! These two parents were. what kind of parent just hire some random woman to watch her two children without doing a background check. They knew this woman for a grand total of one day and they ask her to be there live in babysitter. All this woman had to do was say she had degrees in some form of childcare and they say "ok move in watch over our little baby and young child" And all this without a background check. And the father was a cop so he should already know better. And also that young child couldn't have been more Irritating. She was working at my nerves every time she spoke. I almost didn't finish the book because the kid was so annoying. I'm sorry but so many things about this book were so beyond the realm of reality. It wasn't horrible, but I don't think I would read again. I was very excited when I read the reviews because it sounded really good, but I didn't agree. But to each his own

A Lesson for Parents!

Though the parents were beyond stupid to never consider ANYTHING being the fault of the babysitter, it still kept me interested in seeing how deep of a web that babysitter could weave!

some people can't let the past go, Just Sick

I enjoyed this book but I felt it could have been a bit shorter. Got a little tire of the cop/dad being so clueless. Narration was great.Going to start another book narrated by her. worth the listen but be patient. is there going to be a sequel?

Tingling and frightening

(As posted in GoodReads)
The psychological games were tangible and horrible! It reminded me of the movie "Gaslight". But the disturbing thing for me was it seemed like I knew all along what was happening and what was going to happen – almost as if it was all full of obvious actions and circumstances. I had to go through my past reviews to make sure I hadn't already read and rated it :-(. In any event, it was still a good story that had me looking forward to each subsequent time when I listened to more.
I would have given it four stars except for that strange feeling that I must've read it before, although I'm relatively certain that I didn't.

Definitely Entertaining with Excellent Narration!

I thought really enjoyed listening to this book. The narration was excellent and I could clearly follow the different characters. To some readers that found this unrealistic I disagree. As a psychologist obsession, delusional thinking, and depression were accurately portrayed. This is an important part of psychological thrillers for me. All in all give it a try. If your not connected by the 5th chapter and dont like it try something else. I was hooked!

A bit too long

The story was as good. A tad bit predictable. The story could have been told in half the time.

Very predictable

I'm only onto chapter 7 but figured what would happen by chapter 2. Maybe I've watched too many lifetime movies.

And what 7 year old still sucks her thumb? I wonder if the author has been around any 7 year olds? My 4 year old niece is far more intelligent.

If you've read a lot of these this will be predictable.
