Fun story, but the performer's southern accent was a fail!

What a fun book!

My only issue is the performer's attempt at a southern accent. I would recommend one of 3 solutions:
1. Hire a 2nd performer who can speak with a proper southern accent.
2. Perhaps the current performer could provide a passable generic American accent.
3. Don't even try a different accent.

As a lifelong Southerner, I found this performer's attempts distracting. I think her use of different British voices worked well!

Delightful

Set in the sleepy, seaside town of White Cliff Bay, Summer at Rose Island introduces readers to Darcy Davenport; who has moved from London to escape her suffocating parents. No sooner has she arrived, she has a seemingly abrupt meeting with the mysterious American, Riley Eddison, who lives in the local lighthouse; which, is revealed to be marked for demolition. With her position in community development, can Darcy assist in uniting the citizens of Rose Island to help save the lighthouse? Or will she go back to London, once again a failure in her parents' eyes?

Despite being the third book in the White Cliff Bay series, Summer at Rose Island is my first introduction to Holly Martin’s writing, and I was pleasantly satisfied with the experience. I mean, this book was corny, but a good corny. I loved getting cosy in bed and visiting Darcy and Riley through the audio narration.

While the story has a relatively predictable plot, there was something incredibly sweet about each one of Holly Martin's characters; I fell in love with Rose Island immediately. However, there were a few points where I became frustrated with one, or both, of the main characters as I felt that they were digging their heels into a feud a little too much.

Overall, though, I truly enjoyed listening to this book; I felt that the author did an outstanding job of drawing the reader into Rose Island through her words. Now, it is time to go onto Amazon and download the rest of the series; I need more fluffy reading as the weather gets progressively colder.

Nice Feel Good Book

And with this book I finished the White Cliff Bay series, I liked the overall atmosphere of these books, in this book we are experiencing summer in White Cliff and the towns efforts to save the lighthouse from demolishing.. that was the best part, also Libby and George bless their souls were AMAZING :D
Darcy and Riley were nice but not my favorite couple .. they have some chemistry but I thought most of their dialogues were stiff .. but I liked the scene where Riley stands up for her in front of her parents .. it is a nice fluffy read for a lazy day

The narration was good, I liked how the narrator spoke in an American accent when Riley speaks .. she was very good throughout the series

Wonderful, happy story for ocean animal lovers

This love story about a marine biologist is satisfyingly uplifting. No drama or tragedy so it’s a perfect nighttime read. Set in a charming small-town community that revives one’s faith in humanity.

Ughh...

This had potential...until Chapter 12. . . Then all they could do was argue and have make up sex. The story got lame and predictable. Darcy was an almost "simple" character with no common sense. There is a difference between romance and sex...more sex just makes for a longer drawn out tale, no more substance. By the end of this tale I could have cared less. While the narration was okay, her take on a southern drawl was laughable. I'm avoiding any more of Ms. Martin s other titles.
