Summary

The biting wind whips around the crystal-clear waters of the lake. The girl sits with her eyes open, as if transfixed by the waves on the shoreline, but she has taken her last breath…

When Detective Morgan Brookes is called to Lake Thirlmere one frosty night, she’s devastated to find the body of a young woman positioned in front of the glistening reservoir. She has ligature marks on her limbs, glue residue on her eyes, and her beautiful face is as cold as ice. Knowing only a dangerous serial killer would arrange a scene so carefully, Morgan is in a race against time to stop them before more innocent lives are lost.

The victim is 20-year-old Jasmine Armer, and her mother is distraught to hear that her beautiful daughter is gone. And Morgan is shocked when she learns that Jasmine’s father recently died by suicide at the same picturesque spot. The killer must have known the family. Then, Morgan receives a terrifying package at the station of an intricate death mask. She immediately recognises Jasmine’s long lashes and perfectly-plump lips.

With the killer taunting her, Morgan knows time is running out. And then Morgan gets the heart-shattering call that her friend, Emily, has been killed. Ligature marks on Emily’s arms are identical to Jasmine’s. Heartbroken, Morgan knows this isn’t the end of the killer’s twisted game, but can she track them down before they take another life?

A non-stop thrill ride from the very first chapter to the final, epic conclusion. Fans of Angela Marsons, Rachel Abbott, and Lisa Regan will be glued to the screen of this addictive rollercoaster of a story.

Loved this

Awwwww, why does it end so quickly. I can’t wait for the next one. I love this series and when is Ben going to marry her?? Sublime, interesting and wonderful listen.

Good stories, lamentable writing….

I’m conflicted. It says something good that I’ve listened to / read the whole series. The author indeed tells a ripping yarn and I don’t mind suspending disbelief at the unlikely goings on. I read an interview with Damian Boyd who was one of Amazon’s successes as self published. His advice to authors is to invest every penny in the best copy editor you can find. This is advice this author desperately needs to follow as the grammar is outrageously dreadful throughout to the extent that it is extremely off-putting. It’s junior school stuff, I’m not fussing about split infinitives. Excellent narrator copes very well with the clunky language so it’s less obvious when listening than when reading. A shame as it has the making of a good series. Get an editor please!

Great story although it ended very abruptly

Enjoyed it but I guessed the ‘baddie’ and the ending came abruptly with little explanation

Great storyline .. just finishes far too quickly

I love this series , and I love the storyline and also Alison Campbell narrating ..But jeez it finished so damn quickly .. You are used to books in this genre , the catch the guilty person and then go back to the station and the whole reasoning behind it gets worked out .. I mean why did he have the newspaper cut outs of Morgan ? What was his reason behind it all apart from his brief reason given when Morgan was being held ? So many questions left unanswered ..

PREDICTABLE

I have used Audio books for many years now to aid sleep, This series is first rate for this. I have not finished this one yet but I know how it will end. St Morgan will almost be killed by the serial killer and will be saved in the nick of time by her boring boy friend and team. I do like Cain and Amy but they dont stand a chance. And as for all the witchy stuff. But the biggest turn off is the Narrator. Her silly pathetic monotone is awful. Whether she is describing an autopsy or a love scene - all sounds the same. I wont go near any other series that she narrates.
