Summary

She didn’t know he was watching. Until it was too late. She’d walked this path hundreds of times before; she knew every twist and turn. But today was different. She didn’t know someone was waiting for her, hidden away from view. She didn’t know this was the last time she’d walk this path.

Hidden deep in the forest, schoolgirl Felicity Parker is found carefully laid out on a rock with nothing but a freshly picked bunch of flowers next to her lifeless form. Detective Jenna Alton is called in to investigate the gruesome discovery.

With the body found just off a popular hiking route, Jenna believes the killer is a visitor to the town...until a second local girl is discovered.

Within days, Kate Bright, a school friend of Felicity’s, is found brutally murdered at the local swimming pool, and once again the killer has displayed his victim in a terrifying manner and left flowers at the scene. The town is gripped with fear, and Jenna and her deputy, David Kane, now know that the killer is living among them and that he’s picking off school girls one by one. But they don’t know who is next on the list.

As the trail goes cold, Kane and Alton are forced to sit and wait for the killer to make his next move. But now he has a new victim in his sights, and he’s looking much closer to home....

If you love Robert Dugoni, Karin Slaughter, and Rachel Abbott, you’ll love this nail-biting thriller from D.K. Hood.

Great story, rubbish narration!

The writing is brilliant and the story is great and weaves well but yet again, another story let down by poor narration. But I would still recommend this book.

Good story hard to listen too.

I really enjoyed the first book and couldn't wait to listen to the second but was so disappointed by the narration. Her voice sounded like the robotic voice on the kindle it spoilt the book for me and will in future be looking out for her name and not be downloading any with her name on again.

Narration is wooden

I nearly gave up on it within a minute but having read book one I was enjoying the characters and where the story was going.
The narration is wooden it's not read with feeling and I feel that with the right voice it could have been a 5 star book. I did enjoy the story I did get into it but the whole time I was wishing they had picked Jonathan Keeble to do the narration.
I have downloaded book 3 and am hoping the delivery is better to listen to !

Narrator was a bad choice

Great story but I couldn't listen to the narrator so had to physically read the book in the end.

Good story, woeful narration.

Was looking forward to this book, but the narrator had the most monotone voice ever. I had to skip part of it to get to the end as I could bear it no more. Shame!

Don’t like the narrator, or most of the characters!!

I shan’t be listening to any more in this series. I worked out who the killer was about a third of the way, which was unfortunate. Also the two ex-Forces deputies are just unpleasant. There’s no lightness in either of them. Finally, I just couldn’t get on with the narrator’s voice. These things are so subjective.

Good storey bad narration

Loved the second book but the narrator had a very weird accent . I couldn’t get used to it. It’s very off putting when the narrator doesn’t fit the storey in the book.
