About this ebook

The stranger stood in the doorway, smiling as if he knew her. His blue-green eyes were transfixing: strange, luminous – like the sea on a cloudy day. Faye felt a sense of shifting, like standing on wet sand as the tide washed in, burying her deeper and deeper…

Faye Morgan – beautiful, independent and lonely – runs her family’s small shop of magical curiosities like her mother and grandmother before her. She longs for an escape, unaware of the dark power that flows through her veins…

When Faye casts a spell into the sea one cold morning, her call brings her to the attention of the wild and impulsive faerie king Finn Beatha. Finn pulls Faye into an intoxicating new world, both magical and treacherous… and as bewitching as Finn himself, who seems to command every part of her when he’s near.

As Faye’s passion for Finn grows, so does her fear that she might be there for some darker reason... and that she could be trapped in Faerie forever. Is there something in Faye’s past connecting her to this place, to Finn? And dare she find out more when every moment draws her further away from her old world?

A gorgeously sexy and action-packed read, perfect for fans of Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Amy Bartol and A Court of Thorns and Roses. You’ll never want to put this book down!

4 Stars Review by Morgen Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog Daughter of Light and Shadows by Anna McKerrow is the first book in a trilogy set in Scotland. It’s about being careful what you wish for. Faye Morgan is strong, independent, clever and caring. She runs a retro-fitted little shop called Mistress of Magic that has been in her family for generations. Her mother and grandmother ran the shop before her. Growing up, she always enjoyed watching them commune with nature, learning spells and felt connected to the energy of others. Faye and a couple of friends are disappointed in their lackluster love lives. With this, Faye decides it’s time to take matters into her own hands and, with help from her friends, conjures a spell from her family grimoire that will summon passionate love. From the moment the spell is complete, Faye can feel a shift in the air. She soon meets two men that are new to town with whom she shares a connection. They both have different things to offer that she never knew she wanted. There is no denying the attraction she feels for both of them. When she finally makes her choice is it one she can live with? Will he be everything he appears to be? The story is written in third person. The author’s attention to detail is absolutely amazing. She creates a whole new world. At times the detail is a little heavy for me and slows down the pace a bit. The imagery is gorgeous and transports you to a land of beautiful colors. The chemistry between the characters is palpable and sparks fly with every breath. The characters have a lot of depth and I loved watching them get to know each other. Faye is shown a whole new side to herself and as she explores it, you can see her self-confidence build. There is a mystery to the way the story unravels and it takes you for a ride you won’t soon forget. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys some paranormal fun.
