Detective Josie Quinn is investigating when young boys find human bones. These bones are found in the woods behind a trailer park that Josie once lived with her mother when she was a child. Imagine her surprise when the bones are confirmed belong to a young woman who was murdered 30 years ago ... Belinda Rose... who happens to be Josie's mother. So if this is the real Belinda Rose .. who is the woman who raised Josie? Just as Josie gets closer to uncovering a secret that will shatter her world forever, another body is uncovered. It’s suddenly clear that someone very close to Josie will stop at nothing to keep the truth buried forever. This was an excellent addition to this series. Josie has had her share of problems over the years, but this book takes the reader back to when Josie was the child of an alcoholic, drug-riddled toxic mother. Her problem with a stalker evolves. Someone is posting her name and phone number on craigslist .. asking for those who would like a good time to call her. One man has accosted her in front of a grocery store. Her car has been vandalized ... her house broken into. There are no clues ... but who would want these things done to her? Riding a roller coaster is tamer than the action of this book. A real page turner, the twists and turns pop up when you least expect them. The chapters are divided ... the current life of Josie and then those from when she was a child. You cry for the child and wonder how she survived relatively normal. Although third of a series, this one reads easily as a stand alone. As always, I highly recommend starting at the beginning of this terrific series. Josie is a fascinating character. Many thanks to the author / Netgalley / Bookouture for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I am an avid reader, going through 1-2 Mystery/Crime/Psychological Thrillers per week. When I find an author I enjoy, I end up reading the entire series...and out of hundreds, The Detective Josie Quinn series STILL rises to the top of my memory, many years later! Why? The character of Josie Quinn is carefully & intricately developed over the first 5 books. You'll experience all of her emotions as you are taken back to her childhood, discovering the trauma she endured which formed the person she has become. While captured by this series, you will concurrently move through Josie's childhood trauma & her adult years ... while you are gripped by the thrill of watching her unravel the twisting layers of a fresh crime spree encountered in each individual book. Prepare to go through withdrawals once you catch up with Lisa Regan, and must wait for the next book in the series to hit publication! WARNING: Late night reading may cost you hours of sleep - this series is hard to put down!
