About this ebook

Eeny meeny, miney, moe. Who lives, who dies only I know.

When the body of a doctor is discovered brutally murdered in local woodland, Detective Kim Stone is shocked to discover the victim is Gordon Cordell – a man linked to a previous case she worked on involving the death of a young school girl. Gordon has a chequered past, but who would want him dead?

As the investigation gets underway, Gordon’s son is involved in a horrific car crash which leaves him fighting for his life. Kim's sure this was no accident.

Then the body of a woman is found dead in suspicious circumstances and Kim makes a disturbing link between the victims and Russells Hall Hospital. The same hospital where Gordon worked.

With Kim and her team still grieving the loss of one of their own, they’re at their weakest and facing one of the most dangerous serial killers they’ve ever encountered. Everything is on the line. Can Kim keep her squad together and find the killer before he claims his next victim?

The killer is picking off his victims at a terrifying pace, and he’s not finished yet.

From multi-million copy number one bestseller Angela Marsons comes another absolutely nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat crime thriller.

Another hit from Angela Marsons. Fatal Promise is ninth book in the DI Kim Stone series. This series needs to be read in order as the books builds upon the previous (binge reading is always encouraged). I found Fatal Promise to be well-written with complex characters. I like that we learn something new about Kim Stone in each book. Kim is a multifaceted woman whose past has shaped her. The only individual allowed close to Kim is her best friend and dog, Barney. Kim and her team are grieving the loss of DS Dawson who died in Dying Truth. It has them on edge causing tension in what is normally a team that works very well together. Each one of them deal with the loss in a different way as we get to see in the book. They get a new team member, DS Austin Penn who is good with computers. This will be especially hard on DC Stacey Wood who has been the team’s computer expert. The mysteries are complex with unexpected twists that will have the reader gasping with surprise. The violence is ramped up with a killer on a spree (there is foul language too). I liked the ending and am looking forward to Dead Memories. Be prepared to hang a “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door when you begin reading this fast paced suspense.

This book was a riveting read, found it hard to put down! The team are struggling to get over Dawson's death and are offered a replacement which DI Kim Stone strongly objects too but has to accept in the end. Then a case comes in that will test them, to see how good a team they actually are. Meanwhile, Stacey is trying to do a case off her own back, on the quiet which is a missing teenager from her secondment, this turns out tricky then she thought but no one else was looking for her. Brilliant book, brilliant read!

Another Kim Stone book that is well worth reading. Returning to work following the death of one of her officers is difficult, and welcoming a replacement, almost impossible. Alongside comes a difficult case that needs the whole team to sort out - just when the team is feeling fractured. While her team surviving team members were split among other divisions, one of them picked up a missing girl case, which turns out to be a lot more worrisome than it first appears.
