About this ebook

WOW!!! I read this book in one sitting…  grippingI was swept away... I simply can't wait for the next book.’ Goodreads Reviewer, 5 stars

The floor was stone cold on her bare skin. Her heart pounded in her chest. ‘Not a soul knows where I am,’ she thought as she took in the darkness around her. And then she heard his footsteps…

When a body is found stuffed into a barrel at the local dump, covered in long red cuts, Detective Jenna Alton and her new deputy, David Kane, rush to the scene.

Nothing ever happens in the small town of Black Rock Falls, so Jenna believes the victim must be one of two recent missing persons, and she fears for the life of the other.

Both were strangers to the town, but there’s nothing else to link them. Jenna knows someone must have seen something, but no one’s talking; how well does she really know the people around her?

Then a disturbing clue makes Jenna suspect a connection with other disappearances in the town’s history. Just when she begins asking the right questions, she realises she’s being followed. Is she next on the killer’s list?

In a race against time, Jenna and David must unlock the dark secret at the heart of the town, before it’s too late…

A completely addictive detective thriller that will have you guessing right to the end. If you love Robert Dugoni, Karin Slaughter and Rachel Abbott, you’ll love Don’t Tell a Soul.

**Each Kane and Alton book can be read as part of the series or as a standalone**

If you don't like small towns, don't write about them. Insulting that life, like people there only live in those places because they can't do any better, is small minded. Secondly, the interpersonal relationships in this book read like teenagers. I hope you're a man, because writing your female lead like a complete imbecile that can't control her girly emotions so doesn't use her brain and has to be saved by the man? Really? Even your male lead thinks she's an idiot. Halfway decent plot, bad writing.

4.25⭐ Don't Tell a Soul is a great introduction to detectives Kane and Alton, and having recently devoured the latest book featuring these two, I was keen to see how it all started; and this story did not disappoint. As I was gripped and it truly kept me guessing. Although, I did have an inkling into whom the killer was, and I was right, but it was purely luck on my part and no reflection on the storyline, which was well-written, perfectly paced and tightly plotted. And with intriguing characters, and just the beginnings of the Kane/Alton partnership on display I found it genuinely hard to put this story down, and am now eagerly looking forward to reading book two. Would recommend.

The story line is very good and I thought this was a very good read, with multiple suspects. My only recommendation to the author is to cut back on the over-repeating of "small hands, small fingers, rubbing of chins, hands through hair" etc. Other expressions could be used, and this was the only detraction for me as a reader. Looking forward to reading Book 2.
