About this ebook

‘Oh my goodness – what a fantastic book!! I read this book in two sittings and loved it… A fantastic, twisty story that really hooked me in.’ Goodreads Reviewer, 5 stars

My husband kisses me gently on the head before heading out to the shop for more wine; he walks up the hill, takes a left across the footbridge, climbs over the railing and jumps...

Two years after the death of her husband, Robert, Francesca and her young daughter are leaving London for a fresh start. Money is tight and Robert’s mother has found them a little cottage in her village. Still grieving her loss, Francesca is grateful for the help, but why does Robert’s mother want to keep them so close?

Does she know about what Francesca did in the hour before Robert’s death?

Soon Francesca begins to suspect there was more to her husband’s death than she realised, that there might be even darker secrets hiding in his past than her own…

The closer she gets to uncovering the truth, the more she asks: is her own life in danger now too?

If you couldn’t put down The Girl on the Train or The Couple Next Door, then you will absolutely love this gripping and twisty new psychological thriller.

Robert dies when he commits suicide. If he had known how his death would lead to the horrible consequences of two families, including another death, would he not have jumped to his death? This is the question that his widow, Francesca, faces everyday. She looks at her young daughter and wonders what she'd think if she knew her mother's secret. John has been in love with Francesca as long as he's known her. He has a huge secret that he can't share with anyone. John's wife is also harboring secrets. Robert's mother is a harridan, a belligerent old woman who mourns the loss of her older son ... but refuses to acknowledge her collusion in this family drama. Everyone involved has secrets ... and lies to keep those secrets hidden. When Francesca starts asking questions, she hears all kinds of things. But who can she trust to tell the truth? And does she realize just how close to danger she really is? This is an excellent psychological thriller. Well written and full of twists and turns kept me rapidly turning pages to see what happened next. The ending is explosive and I never in the world saw it coming. This was like peeking in the windows of a neighbor's house and discovering much more than you wanted to know ... and once in your head, it can't be erased. The book tells a story of a time starting 16 years previously and alternating with the events of today. The author has made it very easy to follow with only a small handful of recurring characters. Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for this intense, gripping digital copy. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

It was a tear jerker despite labelled as gripping psycho thriller. I feel sad for how a childhood trauma could reverberate along someones adulthood.. it hurts and fester them endlessly.. this book is about many secrets..not only three and those secrets caused a lot of havoc but there's also a lot of sincere love shown by its characters.. this book is a bit sad but its brilliantly written and plotted.. you wont able to put it down

It was entertaining and a page turner but the ending was a bit disappointing. It felt rushed and left some questions unanswered. Aside from that, it was a great book.
