About this ebook

'WOW! This book was fantastic, I loved it. I literally binge read it because I couldn't put it down... if I could give it 6 stars I would.' Bonnie's Book Talk

When she woke, she found herself in darkness. She couldn’t move. She was going to die and she had no idea why…

When the body of Lola Evans is found in a river in a local park on a cold winter’s morning, Detective Alex King and her new recruit Chloe Lane are called in to lead the hunt for the killer.

Days later, another girl goes missing, and another body is found in the water. It seems the two girls shared a troubled history, and were members of the same support group. What secrets were they keeping? And who is the monster preying on these vulnerable girls?

As the detectives start to piece together the clues, it becomes clear that the murderer's reach goes even further - back into the painful past of Chloe Lane herself. Chloe realises that she too is in danger – as she uncovers secrets about her own brother’s death which someone will kill to keep hidden.

Alex and Chloe are soon caught in a race against time to reach the next victim before it’s too late... and they must face terrifying truths from their own lives to have a chance of catching the killer.

Chilling and totally compelling with an utterly surprising twist, The Girls in the Water is perfect for fans of Robert Bryndza, Sarah Hilary, and Patricia Gibney.

The book had me glued to the pages as the investigation into the murder victim unfolded and various layers of the skilfully crafted plot came together. I stayed up way too late in a desperate attempt to finish as the team races against the clock to save another potential victim. Detective Alex King is called to investigate the death of a young woman found in a pond at a local park. It's obviously murder .. her wrists are bound and her fingernails are all missing. King's investigation finds no apparent motive for this crime as the victim seemed to be well liked by friends and loved by family. Without any leads, the case comes to a standstill. Then, another body is found in the water. What's the connection between these young women? When the detective jumps in with both feet, she finds that danger is much closer than she imagined. She must catch this killer before another life is taken. This is an exciting beginning of a police procedural series. The characters are solid and well drawn. Full of twists and turns, this crime story is action-packed with excitement on every page. The ending comes as a total eye-opener shocker. I look forward to reading the entire series. Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

By the time I had reached page 100 I was totally confused. There appears to be 2 separate stories running parallel to each other. I found the number of characters to many to keep up with and gave up reading the book.

Excellent writing style, she brings the characters to life! You actually experience their emotions. From the first page to the last you are drawn into the story. It's like a first person experience, instead of third person. Great storyteller, looking forward to reading more from her.
