About this ebook

Tell your most devastating secret, or risk losing your only daughter…

Then: Twenty years ago, Alys’ husband, Sam, was in a terrible car accident that left him fighting for his life. His recovery was slow and painful and, just at the point when Alys began to hope, he sent her away, refusing to see her ever again for reasons she could never understand.

Now: Married again and living in a new town with a new family, Alys feels like she’s sleepwalking through life. She’s just lost her job, her grown-up daughter is flying the nest, and her new husband doesn’t see – or even seem to care about – the downward spiral she is in.

But a chance encounter changes everything. As the life she could have had crashes into the one she settled for, Alys must decide whether or not to reveal the lie she’s been telling everyone all these years. Will it tear apart the ones she loves, or could it set them free?

An emotional, page-turning family drama about the difficult choices and sacrifices we make to protect the ones we love. Perfect for fans of Amanda Prowse, Kerry Fisher and Jodi Picoult.

Twenty years ago when Aly's husband Sam met with terrible car accident that left him fighting for his life, he divorced her and refused to see her ever again for reasons she could never understand. She married again and built a new family. But now, she’s just lost her job of over twenty years, her grown-up daughter is flying the nest, and her husband doesn’t see or even seem to care about the downward spiral she is in. Then suddenly, a chance encounter with her past changes everything. Alys must decide whether or not to reveal the lie she’s been telling everyone all these years, with the risk of losing her daughter. This is a typical family drama about love, sacrifices and forgiveness. The book was well-written, with well described characters and the story moving at a decent pace. What I liked the most about this book apart from it's beautiful cover, is that the story and characters were not over dramatic at any point. Yes, there were quite a few times when I did get irritated with the main character, Alys for not being able to have a mind of her own and pursue the things that interest her. I liked the characters of Sam and Esme, but my favourite has to be Nancy without any doubt. Overall, a recommended read for all women, with a clear message- there is no time limit for you to pursue your interests and let your happiness be your own and not one that's been decided for you by others!

"... what defines us? Is it the lies we tell ...or the secrets we keep? " "Maybe the question should be : which is worse?" These quotes from the prologue had me hooked. Its not just a book about secrets or lies, it is what we do with them. The Wife's Choice is also about realizing the choices you make, always have consequences , its about realizing who you really are . There was a lot of strong women in this book and I hope to be that wise one day. It is the story of Alys , her daughter and husband. One secret will change their lives. The Wife' Choice leaves you in a I can do this too , feel good mood. Thanks to Net Galley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.

Although I don’t normally read a large amount of women’s fiction, I have read my fair share, so having enjoyed Emma’s last book My Husbands Lie, it was only natural that I read The Wife’s Choice when the opportunity presented itself. I am so glad that I did and I will even go as far as to say, it is one of the best books I have read in the genre! Emma has created a story that pulls on your emotional heartstrings. It is a tale of a love lost, a deeply buried secret and a woman’s quest to get her power back. I was instantly hooked from the first page as I was pulled into the story and I was disappointed when it ended. It really did consume me. I just loved Alys’ character. The sadness emanates off her in waves and she really got under my skin. I just wanted to reach into my Kindle and hug her tight. Nancy was also such a standout and I fell in love with her. She is the type that gives unconditional friendship and she is one friend you wish you had. Both of these women are such memorable characters that will always stay with me. The one character that I could not find any empathy for is Hugh! Oh my goodness if I wanted to reach into my Kindle to hug Alys, for Hugh, although I don’t condone violence, I wanted to reach in and slap him! He made my blood boil and is just a despicable man, but in saying that he has been written in this role perfectly for you to have these feelings. Emma’s writing is second to none and with it evokes a range of emotions. Her words are so beautifully written that I found it so hard to tear myself away from the story. She has a real gift and this is just one example of her prose that resonated with me. “We all need space. Unless we have it, we cannot reach that sense of quiet in which whispers of better things come to us gently.” The Wife’s Choice is a compelling and enthralling story and is one that is the perfect escape to get lost into and forget about everything for a few hours. It is raw account of self discovery, a second chance at life and the sacrifices that one makes for their family and it is one book that I cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you for this book Emma and I will be eagerly awaiting to read what you come up with next. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Emma Davies for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Wife’s Choice which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
