You know when you read a Rona Halsall book that you are going to be getting one cracker of a read and The Ex-Boyfriend is no exception. She really is one talented author and delivers each and every time, which makes her one of the best psychological thriller authors out there! Rona has put together an interesting plot that drew me in right from the outset and took me hostage until the final page. The opening is chilling and sets off the tone for the rest of the story. It really got under my skin and shook me to the core. The characters have been very well developed and have been brought to life beautifully. Rona Halsall knows how to get into a readers head and mess with it, as she makes you second guess everyone. So many times I thought I had it in the bag, but I couldn’t have been more wrong! As always Rona Halsall captured my attention with writing that is perfectly flawless and just flows so well, as she makes your fingers get a workout furiously flicking those pages on the Kindle. The Ex-Boyfriend sure is a page turner that had me reading until the sun came up and was completely worth the book hangover I had afterwards! The Ex-Boyfriend is a gripping first class read and one that you must add to your reading list for this year. It is engrossing, intense and with a jaw dropping outcome that I did not see coming, makes this a very satisfying read and I can’t wait to see what Rona Halsall will come up with for her readers next. But Connor lives on the other side of the world. Just how dangerous can becoming friends again be? Plus, she is currently having problems in her marriage and needs someone to talk to. But then her daughter Mia gets sick and its discovered that someone is poisoning her. The blame falls on Becca and she is stopped from having any contact with Mia. Soon, it starts to become clear – someone will do absolutely anything to make sure Becca never escapes her past… This was a well written psychological thriller that has all the twists and turns to keep you engaged. There are so many characters whom you can suspect, each having a different motive, that it gets so exciting to know who the real culprit might be. When the final end is revealed, you realise that nobody can be trusted! The only flaw for me in this book was Becca, because at times I found her slightly irritating. I just wished that her character would have portrayed as a little bit more stronger rather than as whining one. It would have been a little more enjoyable. That ending!!!!!!!!!! "The Ex Boyfriend" By Rona Halsall follows Becca, a busy mum to Mia and wife to husband Dean. Becca is juggling part time nursing work, with trying to see more of her dad Frank, whilst trying to help relieve her sister Kate of the caring duties for her father! Which is harder for her now she lives half hour away in another village. It's all going on in her life..... now on top of all that, her old love of her life Conner is back in touch- messaging her via Twitter, which then stirs up all sorts of questions and feelings inside Becca. The storyline takes many turns, more than usual with a Rona Halsall Physcological Thriller, and I did at times feel it wasn't moving quite quick enough. Just when we think we've caught the plot twist everything changes and the story continues..... I couldn't of loved the epilogue anymore, it was full of emotion and highlights the "factitious disorder" mentioned throughout the storyline, which I'd never even heard of up until this book. I was really happy for Becca come the final page, and was overcome with a swarm of happiness and love for her, it really did tie up the storyline very well and taught the important lesson of forgiveness, love and moving on.
