About this ebook

‘Hooked from the first page right until the last... I didn’t see the bombshell coming until it was on the page… Skilfully plotted and sizzling with suspense.’ Emma’s Biblio Treasures ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What if the person you trust most in the world has been lying to you for your whole life?

Martha would do anything for her devoted mother, Fran. Now in her mid-twenties, Martha still lives with her in their remote, pretty cottage in the Cornish countryside. Fran paints illustrations, while Martha trains to be an animal nurse.

But then Martha sees a strange message on her mother’s phone – apparently from her estranged father.

He had been there for her first steps. He’d helped with her homework, and taken her for ice cream at weekends. And then, two days before her ninth birthday, he walked out. She never knew what went wrong, and she and Fran never heard from him again.

Desperate for answers, she tracks him down. But when they come face to face, she isn’t ready for the brutal truth.

Closing his eyes he says, ‘She hasn’t told you, has she? I’m not your father.’

Her mother has been telling lies. And not just about who her real father is…

As the lies start to unravel, someone will do whatever it takes to keep Martha from finding the truth.

A page-turning, gripping psychological thriller for fans of The Girl on the Train, Shalini Boland, and C. L. Taylor.

Perfectly written...lots of twists and turns...I was lost @ one point...it's a really good book. And yes, I think any parent would lie or do basically anything for their child/children... I Know I would! I lost both of my parents just a couple years apart and just wanted to say sorry for yours also. I love anything, (especially reading books), that have to do with the UK. When I read a book from there, I imagine the accent in my mind lol...love it!😉😁

Painful to read in the most boring sense. Took forever to get to the point and was very repetitive. Pages & pages of mundane nothingness. Glad to have finished it.

Wow, what a book!!!!! This was my first book by this author and it sure did not disappoint. This book was about a young woman trying to figure out who she was. Martha was told a man named Greg was her father all her life but that was a lie. There were many lies told to her by her mom. Martha had to find the courage to face these lies and her mother in order for her to find the real truth about herself. I want to start off by saying that the book did start off very slow and you might not like Martha very much. Martha at the very beginning was very timid and did not stick up for herself especially when it came to her mother. By the end of the book though she did find her voice and I ended up liking her very much. Martha’s mother is not very likable either but does redeem herself as well at the end. She finally told Martha the truth and realized how wrong she was to hide it from her. I do want to talk about the ending cause that was what made the book. I never saw all the twists and turns coming that this book had in store. It was like I was on a roller coaster ride that I never wanted to get off from. I was truly shocked by what happened and the truths that came out that I could not believe what I was reading. The ending was definitely worth the wait. Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
