About this ebook

“Had me hooked from the first page to the last with a heart-wrenching story and explosive conclusion. I love psychological thrillers and police procedural with strong female leads so I felt as if I won the jackpot with this one.” Goodreads Reviewer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The woman stumbles through the woods, face burned from the sun, feet aching with fatigue. At last she catches sight of a road and limps towards the first store in sight. The kindly storekeeper rushes towards her, “Are you okay, sweetheart? What happened?” The woman looks down at her shirt which is covered in blood. “I—I don’t know. I can’t remember.”

On a crisp New England morning, Detective Jo Fournier interviews a woman who dragged herself out of the forest, covered in blood and unsure of her own name. Jo gently tries to help Zoe, as she wants to be called, remember anything about her life. The wedding band on her finger says she’s married, but she can’t remember to whom. And she certainly can’t remember the person who attacked her…

Then a shocking revelation comes back from the lab: the blood on Zoe’s clothes belongs to her daughter. Jo knows how painful it is to lose the person who means the most to you, her fiancé was murdered in front of her. One thought races through Jo’s head: who hurt Zoe so badly that she can’t remember her own child?

Next a man claiming to be Zoe’s husband turns up looking for her, clearly wanting to finish what he started in the forest. Zoe is utterly terrified and, not knowing who to trust, takes off into the night by herself to find her daughter.

Suddenly Jo is playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse where the stakes couldn’t be higher. She is desperate to save Zoe and her daughter and find them both before the killer tracks them down. But when Jo takes a deadly risk to save Zoe—will she escape alive?

I'd say so far, this is the best book of the series. it dipped much deeper in the main characters background and why she is the way she is, but also allowed the main plot to be strong and fast paced without even having the main character be apart of some of the story. I wouldn't say it was a surprise ending but it definitely had a lot of little details that needed to be tied up in the end.

Michelle you have done it again!! Even though there are only three books to date, I could read this series forever. For Her Daughter’s Cry, I am going to use my “less is more” motto when talking about the plot, as I think the blurb gives more than enough of a tease and this is one where it is best letting Michelle guide you along, without any more than what has already been given. As I said in my review for book two Taken to the Grave, which was “This series is just going to keep going from strength to strength”, after reading Her Daughter’s Cry, there are no words more truthful than these! It is one hell of a read from one hell of an author and I can’t wait for the next instalment, with I hope many more to come! I was so intrigued with the plot for Her Daughter’s Cry and was hooked straight away. Michelle has definitely upped the ante this time around and what I love most about this book is she does not waste any time in getting things going. With a tagline like “Someone wants her dead, and she can’t remember why” you just know that you are going to be taken on a wild ride and what a ride it is! Just when I thought that she couldn’t build up the tension and suspense anymore in this series, she dials it up another notch with this one and it is fantastic! I was on the edge of my seat throughout this book and biting my nails, much to my nail technicians disgust! Luckily she is my sister and even though it was a bit touch and go there for awhile, she has now forgiven me and all is well. Phew! I really love Jo’s character and she just gets better and better with each book. In Taken to the Grave, Michelle gave the reader a little glimpse into her vulnerable side when she was confronted with her father’s health issues, but what I loved in this book, is how we are given so much more this time around and it is now Jo who is faced with something that she never thought she would ever have to deal with, while still trying to solve the case. Showing this side of her just adds to her appeal for me as well as her strength. I look forward to seeing how this changes her in future books. Bill Arnett played a big part for me this time and I now adore him even more. As Jo’s work partner, they really are a match made in heaven and I love their relationship. In addition to Jo and Bill, the characterisation of Zoe was spot on. She played a big part in the story and she carried it on her shoulders well. It is no secret that I love Michelle’s work and that I am one her biggest fans. I was only introduced to her work last year, but I instantly connected to her writing and stories. Each book is like a movie that I play out in my head with me on the sidelines watching it all unfold, as I am caught up in the drama of it all. I am able to do this is due to Michelle’s brilliant writing that is very engaging, emotive, descriptive and visual. For Her Daughter’s Cry, Michelle’s writing is really on point and everything just comes together so seamlessly. It is fast paced and the story is well researched and not just in the police procedural side of it but also with Zoe’s memory loss and what that entails, which made it very realistic and believable.

This book was so not me. I did not like it at all. It was well written and I can understand it could appeal to some people but the story in my opinion was horrible and I did not like any of the characters, maybexI am used to different kind of books. This was not a thriller .
