About this ebook

‘I loved this book! It hooked me from page one and I couldn’t put it down… Relatable… mesmerising and so cute. I highly recommend you add this to your must-read list!’ Goodreads Reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I thought I’d have a lot to show for myself at thirty. But while everyone else is buying their first home and planning a destination wedding, I can’t keep a houseplant alive.

Hailey is freaking out.

She keeps telling herself that thirty is just a number. But right now it doesn’t feel that way. It seems like everyone else spent the last decade partying up a storm, going on ten first dates a week and climbing the career ladder. While she’s spent her evenings at home on the sofa with Netflix, her high school boyfriend and has only just managed to decide what job she definitely doesn’t want to be doing for the rest of her life.

But all of that is about to change. Because life is too short to keep missing out. This year she will say yes to anything, no matter what it is, and then finally Hailey will have it all.

Turns out, this is easier said than done.

She’s been relegated to Assistant Number Two at her new job and is pretty sure her boss doesn’t even know her name.

There are four weeks left to get in shape for the marathon she’s signed up for and she can’t remember where she last saw her running shoes.

Then she finds something hidden in her boyfriend’s wardrobe. It’s platinum, sparkly and comes in a small velvet box. This should be the easiest yes she’s ever said, but are they really ready for this?

Saying yes sounded simple in practice. But it turns out Hailey still has some big decisions to make after all…

Fans of Mhairi McFarlane, Holly Bourne and The Devil Wears Prada will adore this funny, heart-felt and honest look at navigating those moments in life where you reach a crossroads and have to decide who and what it is you want to be.

***I received a copy through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.*** I read Neep's "The Spare Bedroom" earlier this year, and loved her dynamic characters and unique situations. I was immediately drawn to people-pleaser Hailey and her story of wanting to say 'yes' to everyone and everything. This read has a "The Devil Wears Prada" vibe - where an impressionable woman who wants to fit into the field is willing to do anything to get ahead (including hiding her boss's affairs). I loved this read, but sadly, I didn't love Hailey. I understood her viewpoint with her longterm boyfriend Dom and wanting to "play the field" before settling down. But I felt like there wasn't enough background story to justify her actions. The ending felt a little too "fairytale" for me and made it feel like there are no repercussions for cheating, lying, etc. I would have loved an epilogue to see where everyone's story ended up. But overall, this was a great read.

If I had to describe this book in a way most books are marketed, I would say this is a Devil Wears Prada meets Suits To be very honest, my expectations weren't very high when I started reading this book because I had no idea if the writing style would be to my liking. But as I gradually proceeded to read Hailey's story, I was completely addicted and finished the book in two days! The Plot Hailey Kidd is newly hired as a legal trainee at the firm where her role model, Vivian Jones, works. Her entire life changed when she made the decision to become a lawyer. Being a school teacher wasn't enough, even though, she was happy where she was with her friend and boyfriend who were also teachers. But somewhere along the lines, she realized that she wasn't happy anymore and needed to do something for herself. As she enters into a new world filled with secrets and deceit, will she manage to balance her old and new life? My thoughts I'd like to start by saying that I absolutely loved reading about Hailey and the way she navigates her new life. It's not easy to start all over again when you think you've already settled down in a career. As I am a law student myself, I was happy to know that the plot revolved around a law firm and also featured a badass character such as Vivian. While I may not agree with her actions, I still think she was incredible. Hailey is the kind of person who always thought of others and placed them before her. Her life revolved around solving problems for her loved ones. But now, working in a hectic law firm, she is surrounded by people who are different from her, people who have different values than her. Slowly, she is engulfed by these things and starts to question her own life and relationships. As she questions them, she realizes that maybe what is made out to be isn't actually the way it is. The book is very fast-paced and I loved the the friendship triangle between Hailey, her boyfriend and friend. The setting of the book is also very realistically done and even the law was cleverly handled, in my opinion. Final Verdict I highly recommend it because the story is just amazing. If you're looking for great characters with a self-discovery arc, this book is for you. It's definitely one of my favorite books of this month! Thank you, Netgalley and Bookouture, for sending an eARC! My opinions are in no way biased

This is a packed read with never a dull moment! Hailey has a new career and she wants to take advantage of every opportunity it offers her. She has a long time boyfriend and best friend, both of whom are very important to her and she wants to be there and please them so ends up saying yes - to everything. Having found an engagement ring in Dom's closet, she knows that she will say yes to that too. Sophie want to run a marathon and invites Hailey to join her - so, of course, she says yes to that too. Finding herself fortunate to be working in the office of Vivian Jones, her long time idol who she has put on a pedestal, Hailey finds herself saying yes to more and more and more - and the more she agrees to do, the more falls by the wayside. Reading this one is quite exhausting - I don't know how Hailey keeps up with it all! So much going on and she has so many different hats to wear. Elizabeth Neep writes books which make me think and ultimately empathise with the main character. This is a realistic storyline; it's amazing that anyone ever manages to have it all when you consider everything going on, and this shows the fallibility of humans trying to balance every aspect of life. It was a more serious read than I expected, but quite enjoyable. Always an author worth following and I'm happy to give her latest novel 4*.
