About this ebook

Nancy Lavelle lies still on the floor. With her eyes looking towards her children’s rooms, her hands are clasped in prayer, as if the last thing she wished for was her children to be saved…

When Detective Abby Pearce is called to the Beach House, a holiday home in the most affluent part of Martha’s Vineyard, she finds five bodies. An entire family has been killed in a frenzied attack… all except one. Fifteen-year-old Karin is the only survivor. Sitting in the house, surrounded by her family, she stares into the distance and doesn’t say a word.

When Karin’s grandparents fly in to take her home, Abby’s investigation takes a shocking turn. Taking one look at the traumatised girl, they recoil—the girl curled up in a hospital bed isn’t their granddaughter. So who is she? And where is the real Karin Lavelle?

Abby fears the missing girl is in serious danger, and with local residents worried that the killer is still on the island and the press questioning her every move, she’s under pressure to solve both crimes fast. But when she uncovers a link between Thomas Lavelle’s New York office and her previous job at the NYPD, she begins to fear that these brutal murders are a sign… and that she’s next. Can she find the killer before another life is taken, or is she walking into a trap?

This fast-paced thriller is perfect for fans of Lisa Regan, Kendra Elliot and Mary Burton, but be warned—you won’t want to put it down!

When Detective Abby Pearce is called to Martha's Vineyard, what she finds is staggering. A man, his wife and 3 children have been murdered in a knife attack. There is only one survivor ... the couple's 15-year-old daughter. The girl is rushed to the hospital, only to find that she hasn't been injured, although she appears to be in a state of shock. The girl's grandparents are called ... and there awaits another bewildering puzzle ... the grandparents don't know who this girl is. She is certainly not their grand-daughter. So who is she? And where is the real grand-daughter? Well written, the plot is riveting, the story line intriguing. Characters are fully developed. There are many twists and turns guaranteed to keep the pages rapidly turning. The conclusion was unexpected. Although 2nd in the series, this is easily read as a stand-alone. I do recommend, however, reading the books in order as it is a compelling series. Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction/police procedural. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Silent Island is my first introduction to detective Abby Pearce, and it was an interesting introduction as Abby Pearce is a high-profile detective back in Martha's Vineyard struggling to stay sober after witnessing her partner be gunned down whilst working for the NYPD and her marriage fall apart. And with another big case to solve this one with strange ties to Abby and a mob boss from New York, Abby is under more pressure than ever before especially when a case of mistaken identity leads to more questions and distress for the relatives of the slain family. But with plenty of mystery, big twists and moments that had me crying out in surprise this was an engaging read and I would certainly look out for more books in this series in the future. **I was kindly provided with an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

BLOG TOUR REVIEW Review for 'Silent Island' by Dana Perry. Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Dana Perry, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous Publication date 5th October 2021. This is the second book I have read by this author it is also the second book in the 'Detective Abby Pearce' series but can be read as a standalone. I have previously read 'Her Ocean Grave' (the first book in the series which I highly recommend. I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that 'This fast-paced thriller is perfect for fans of Lisa Regan, Kendra Elliot and Mary Burton, but be warned—you won’t want to put it down!.' I am a huge fan of the three authors so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Dana and if this is half as good as 'Her Ocean Grave' it is sure to be a page turning read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being B
