I, Alex Moran, have no idea how my life ended up here. Mid-thirties, new wrinkles appearing by the minute and utterly, embarrassingly single. But this weekend, none of that matters. I’m going home to Ireland to be reunited with my oldest friends. Is it awkward I haven’t seen them in ten years? Yes.

So I’m trying extra hard not to think about that. What I am thinking about is the extremely handsome stranger sitting next to me on my flight. Floppy brown hair, piercing green eyes, and an irresistibly smooth American accent. I decide in that moment that Aiden must be the man of my dreams.

And while I am maybe known for rash romantic decisions, when we get to talking, I know I’m not mistaken… He is perfect.

But, arriving in Ireland and racing to tell my friends about the hot stranger whose number I just scored, I realise something else. Aiden may be perfect, but he also appears to be my friend Tara’s new boyfriend.

If things weren’t already awkward between us all, they certainly are now. And as I blink at Aiden in horror, I can’t help but wonder what else this weekend has in store for us, and whether I’m destined to be forever unlucky in love… or now that I’m back on Irish soil will my luck finally change?
