Is home really where the heart is?
Thirty-three-year-old Cassidy Beeswhistle decides it’s time for a change after losing yet another job – and her fickle boyfriend (who happened to be her boss) in the process. So when she discovers her late father’s connection to a tiny, quaint village in the English countryside, it sounds like the perfect place to start again.
Arriving in Dithercott with her nine-year-old daughter Nora, Cassidy is blown away by the beautiful scenery, mostly welcoming villagers and fiendishly attractive (though gruff and standoffish) lord of the manor, Ned Bamford-Bligh. But she wasn’t expecting to learn of a secret ‘lost deed’, which – if found – would supposedly return Dithercott Manor to its rightful heirs: Cassidy and Nora…
The difference between the striking manor and the crumbling old building Cassidy has moved into is like chalk and cheese. But with the deed lost for generations, Cassidy spends more time dreaming about the manor’s current owner, handsome Ned, than she does about claiming her inheritance.
With Ned struggling with demons in his past that make him shy away from her advances, and her home springing leaks and developing cracks by the minute, Cassidy’s dream of a future in Dithercott seems about to come crashing down.
That is, until Ned shows up unexpectedly on her doorstep one day, clutching an old roll of parchment in his hand. Is Cassidy’s luck finally about to change? Or will finding home not be as easy as Cassidy hoped…?
A heart-warming, laugh-out-loud story of home, friendship, family and finding love in the most unlikely of places. The perfect curl-up read for fans of Sarah Morgan, Milly Johnson and Jenny Colgan.
