Bookouture sign new contracts with Ranald, Miller and Kummerow

Bookouture are so happy to share the news that new book deals have been agreed with authors Sophie Ranald, Catherine Miller and Marion Kummerow.

Associate Publisher Jess Whitlum-Cooper has agreed a deal for a new novel from international bestseller Sophie Ranald. Jess struck a World All Languages deal for a new romantic comedy with Alice Saunders at The Soho Agency. This new laugh-out-loud romcom will publish in early 2023.

Jess said,

‘I am over the moon to be bringing another gorgeous romantic comedy from Sophie Ranald to the Bookouture list. And I absolutely cannot wait to share this new heartfelt and hilarious read with readers around the world, who I know will adore this new romcom!’

Sophie said,

‘It seems like just yesterday that I signed my first contract with Bookouture. In fact, it was five years and ten books ago – but it’s still as exciting as ever to be announcing a new novel. I’m thrilled to be working with the talented, energetic Jess Whitlum-Cooper and the rest of the brilliant team at Bookouture to usher my latest rom-com out into the world, and I hope my readers will fall in love with it.’

Jess Whitlum-Cooper has also acquired World English Language rights for another emotional, heartfelt and and gripping novel from Catherine Miller. Jess struck the deal with Hattie Grunewald at The Blair Partnership, and this title will publish in 2023.

Jess said,

‘I am thrilled to be working with Catherine Miller on a gorgeous new book. And I know that her readers will be so delighted to have another gripping read to add to their reading list next year!’

Catherine said,

‘I’m so delighted to be continuing on my publishing journey with Bookouture. They’ve been a great support in ensuring my schedule has allowed for working on the Disabled Issue of The Bookseller and signing this contract sees me celebrating my fifth year with them!’

Associate Publisher Isobel Akenhead is also absolutely delighted to have acquired world rights (excl. DE) in a new four-book historical fiction series from bestselling author Marion Kummerow for publication in 2023 and 2024.

Isobel says,

I’m over the moon to be publishing a new series with Marion Kummerow, who is one of the most talented historical fiction novelists writing at the moment. The fantastic success of the Margarete’s Journey series speaks for itself. And I’m confident that this unmissable new series – centred around the true events of the Rosenstrasse protests where a group of wives and mothers bravely went up against the Nazi party to save the lives of the Jewish men they loved – will find an even bigger audience.’

Marion says,

‘I love working with Isobel Akenhead, because she always challenges me to become a better writer. The idea for this new series was born while writing the last instalment of the Margarete series. There are still so many stories to be told and I found the topic of what were seen as mixed-race marriages particularly intriguing.’
