We are delighted to announce that Bookouture has acquired three new historical novels set in World War II. Commissioning Editor Ruth Jones has agreed a world rights deal on a beautiful, three-book historical series by Jenna Ness, who also writes as bestselling author Jennie Lucas. The first in the series will follow the heartbreaking yet inspiring story of a courageous young woman, and her journey to escape Nazi-occupied France with her family of Jewish orphans. The first two books in the series will be published in 2025, and the third in 2026.
Ruth says,
‘From the moment I opened Jenna’s manuscript, I knew this story was going to be something special. I was completely compelled by Margot’s story, and I felt so torn between the heartbreaking tragedy of the events unfolding, and the sweetness and joy this young woman found in her family of orphans. I am so thrilled to be working with her on this wonderful series, and I cannot wait to share it with the world next year!‘
Jenna says,
‘I’m thrilled beyond my wildest dreams that my first three historical novels will be published by Bookouture, the home of amazing World War II authors like Kate Hewitt. After ten years of secretly trying to write historical fiction, I’m so grateful to Maisie Lawrence for taking an interest in my work, and for leading me to my brilliant new editor Ruth Jones, whom I already admire beyond words. Launching in this new direction is a dream come true!‘
