We’re delighted to announce that former BBC Spotlight presenter Teresa Driscoll has signed with Bookouture for two books, through the Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency.
Teresa’s debut novel Recipes for Melissa tells the story of Melissa Dance who lost her mother when she was only eight years old. Now an adult Melissa discovers that her mother had written a journal for her. Claire Bord, our Publishing Director, said:
“I can’t remember the last time I was so moved to tears reading a novel. Teresa has written such a tender and emotional story. At its heart is a mother who wants to explain to her daughter why she hid her terminal illness all those years ago and also share her advice, her secrets. Even though it is of course a devastating subject, there are moments of joy, humour and hope too.”
Teresa commented: “When I was seventeen my mother died of cancer and I did not get to say an open goodbye to her. Recipes for Melissa is pure fiction but the theme comes from the emotional landscape of my own life and experience.”
We will be publishing Recipes for Melissa in eBook and paperback in Spring 2015 with the second novel, The Search – the story of a woman who was forced to give her son up for adoption in a very tragic circumstance – released in late Summer 2015.
Please do join us in giving Teresa a very warm welcome to the Bookouture team!
