Commissioning Editor Christina Demosthenous acquired World all Language, Audio, Film and TV rights for two stirring wartime historical novels.
The Orphan Sisters is a poignant, heartbreaking and gripping novel about two sisters, Etty and Dorothy, who are abandoned by their mother at an orphanage, never to see her again. Years later, when the sisters are finally released, their freedom comes when the country is in the grip of World War Two. Etty and Dorothy survived the orphanage with the help of one another – but can they survive the hardship and heartbreak of war?
The Orphan Sisters will publish in January 2019, followed by a second novel in May 2019.

I couldn’t be more excited to be publishing Shirley. The Orphan Sisters effortlessly transported me to World War Two and the heart-wrenching – yet ultimately uplifting – plight of Etty and Dorothy who, together, face the terrifying realities of war. This stunning debut will be loved by fans of Diney Costeloe and Sandy Taylor, and I can’t wait for it to be out in the world.
Shirley Dickson said,
It is such an amazing pleasure to be joining Bookouture and the wonderful, supportive and talented team that care about their authors. Thanks especially to Christina Demosthenous who is a dream to work with. I hope readers become attached to Etty and Dorothy, and their moving journey during the harsh realities of World War Two, as I did when writing their story.
It would be fantastic if you were able to join us on Facebook and Twitter to celebrate.
