Bookouture re-signs contracts with authors Chase and Gayle

Bookouture is thrilled to announce the acquisition of four more cosy crime novels from bestseller Clare Chase, taking her publishing through to the end of 2026. Clare is the author of the much-loved Eve Mallow series, and is soon to launch a second series starring Bella Winter, antique store owner and amateur detective. Publisher Ruth Tross agreed the deal direct with the author.

Ruth said,

‘I’m delighted to have more books coming from the magnificent Clare Chase! She’s one of the best in the business at cosy crime, combining wonderful series leads with impossible-to-guess puzzle mysteries that keep readers both charmed and glued to the page. I’m so glad that both Eve and Bella will be solving crimes for years to come.’

Clare said,

‘I can’t overstate how happy I am to be signing another contract with Bookouture. Ruth’s fantastic, insightful and creative input is second to none, and inspires me every step of the way. It’s a joy and a privilege to work with her and the whole team. I’m looking forward to sharing the new series and more Eve Mallow books very soon!’

We are thrilled to announce that Commissioning Editor Nina Winters has acquired World All Language rights plus audio for two new books by Katie Gayle, the writing partnership of Kate Sidley and Gail Schimmel, in the Cotswold-set Julia Bird Mysteries series. The first of these will publish in March 2025, and the second book will follow in September 2025. They will be books seven and eight in this successful cosy crime series.

Nina said,

‘Julia Bird is back and I can’t wait to join her on her next adventure! Every time I visit Berrywick, I fall in love with the brilliant characters and the wonderful Cotswold setting. Loyal fans and new readers alike can expect plenty of twists and turns as Julia is once again tasked with solving a murder or two in her lovely little village. I’m so excited to be working on these next instalments in the Julia Bird series with two incredibly talented authors.’

Kate and Gayle said,

‘We cannot believe the incredible ride that the Julia Bird series has been. We are so excited that we get to keep sharing the adventures of Julia, Jake and the characters of Berrywick with readers; and that we get to keep working with the amazing team at Bookouture. Our editor, Nina, shares our vision of Julia Bird’s world, making every book a delight to work on.’
