Bookouture re-sign thriller authors Merritt, Sanderson and Chase

WE’RE VERY EXCITED to share the news that we’ve re-signed contracts with some of your favourite thriller authors.

Commissioning Editor Helen Jenner has acquired World All Language rights from Charlie Viney at The Viney Shaw Agency for two books in a new series from crime author Chris Merritt. The first book in the new Lockhart and Green detective series will publish in March 2020, with the second book following in July 2020.

Helen Jenner said of the announcement,

I’m thrilled to be working with Chris Merritt on this new series. Having published Chris’s first three books at Bookouture, I am in awe of his storytelling and character building. He is able to weave brilliantly tight crime plots with wonderfully crafted characters that truly engage crime fans. I’m very excited to introduce readers to Lockhart and Green.

Chris Merritt said of the announcement,

I loved working with Bookouture on my first three novels and I can’t wait to develop this new series – taking readers to some dark and disturbing places in the minds of serial killers. I’ll be drawing on my own professional background to write the character of Dr Lexi Green, a clinical psychologist who helps police untangle complex murder cases in London. I’m excited to write her as well as a host of other new characters – particularly Detective Inspector Dan Lockhart, an ex-soldier who’s trying to come to terms with his wife’s disappearance… though he’s the only one who believes she’s still alive.

Commissioning Editor Christina Demosthenous has acquired World English Language rights for two new psychological thrillers by Lesley Sanderson, from Hayley Steed at Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency. The first book will be published in November 2019, followed by a second book in April 2020.

Christina Demosthenous said,

I couldn’t be more excited to publish more novels by Lesley. She writes sharp, thrilling and clever stories, packed full of twists, which explore the dark, obsessive and dangerous side of female friendships. Her next two books promise to keep her fans on their toes!

Lesley Sanderson said,

I’m thrilled to be offered another two book deal with Bookouture. I’ve loved the whole experience of working with such an inspiring team and in particular editing with Christina is a joy. I can’t wait to get more books out into the world and I am grateful to everyone who reads my books.

Associate Publisher Kathryn Taussig has acquired World All Language rights for a new cozy crime series from Amazon top-twenty bestselling author Clare Chase. The first book will follow obituary writer Eve Mallow as she attempts to solve a mysterious murder in her charming village of Saxford St. Peter. It will be published in January 2020, followed by the second two novels later in the year.

Kathryn Taussig said,

Clare is a joy to work with and I love the life she brings to her characters and the complex relationships between them. This new series will play to all her strengths and hopefully bring her a bevy of new fans. It’s going to be amazing!

Clare Chase said,

I’m so excited to be working on a new cozy mystery series with Bookouture and my inspiring editor Kathryn. The books feature obituary writer Eve Mallow, and will be classic whodunits, set in the fictional Suffolk village of Saxford St Peter. I can’t wait to share them with readers.
