Bookouture re-sign Shiner, Childs and Allingham

24 November 2023

We are thrilled to announce that we have signed a new 3-book deal with bestselling author Emily Shiner. Commissioning Editor Kelsie Marsden acquired world all languages, film/tv and audio rights directly from the author for two books in a new police procedural series and one psychological thriller. All three titles will launch in 2024.

Kelsie said,

‘Working with Emily so far has been a total dream. She’s endlessly creative and knows exactly what her readers want. Her books are always jam-packed with drama, twists, and OMG moments a plenty. I’ve been blown away by her dedication, hard work, and passion for each project. I can’t wait to introduce readers to a new, totally kick-ass detective in Emily’s first police procedural series next Spring. Developing the new series with Emily has been so fun and I know readers will love it.’

Emily said,

‘I’m so excited to get to work with Bookouture not only on another psychological thriller, but two books in a police procedural series! Working with my wonderful editor, Kelsie, as well as the rest of the Bookouture team has been a dream come true. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to bring more stories to life with them!’

Commissioning Editor Maisie Lawrence has acquired World English rights from literary agent Judith Murdoch for a new novel from USA Today and Amazon Kindle bestselling author Jill Childs.

The incredibly gripping book, publishing in 2024, centres around a party on a tight-knit street, during which one of the neighbours dies. The host knows she saw something of what happened, but nothing is as it first seems.

Maisie said,

‘I’ve admired Jill’s writing for such a long time and working with her on a new domestic suspense novel set in amongst a close community is such an honour. Her ability to craft character is truly second to none and she’s an extraordinarily pacy writer who always keeps readers on their toes! When Jill told me about the twist for this book, it sent chills up my spine. We are all so excited to be publishing this new thriller with her.’

Jill said,

‘I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with Bookouture on my next novel – I can’t quite believe it’s my ninth! I’m so excited to share it and reveal all its twists and turns.’

Commissioning Editor Jayne Osborne has also acquired three new books in the Flora Steele Mystery series by Merryn Allingham.

Jayne said,

‘The Flora Steel Mysteries is a deeply beloved series among readers, who have taken Flora and Jack into their hearts. I couldn’t be happier to continue working with Merryn to publish three more novels in this wonderful series.

Merryn said,

‘I’m thrilled to be writing more Flora Steele mysteries and absolutely delighted to be working again with my editor, Jayne, and the brilliant Bookouture team. They’re the very best!’
