Bookouture re-sign saga authors Howes, Page and Dickson

In more great news, we’re delighted to tell you that we’ll be bringing you more fabulous books from authors Pam Howes, Lizzie Page and Shirley Dickson.

Commissioning Editor Abigail Fenton has acquired World all language rights in a fourth Lark Lane book plus a new Liverpool saga trilogy from bestselling author Pam Howes. The Midwives of Lark Lane will publish in December 2019, followed by The Girls of Liberty Street, book 1 of the Bryant Sisters trilogy, in June 2020.

Abigail Fenton said of the deal,

The reaction to Pam’s Lark Lane series has been fantastic, and I’m so thrilled that there will be a fourth instalment to follow Cathy and Alice’s journey further; I know Pam’s fans will be overjoyed to have more of their story. Pam’s skill at bringing wartime Liverpool to life is unparalleled, and The Girls of Liberty Street kicks off what promises to be Pam’s best series yet. Following three friends through the forties, full of heartbreak, friendship, joy and hope, the series will be top of every saga fans to-read list.

Pam Howes said,

I am absolutely thrilled to bits to be continuing writing sagas for Bookouture. I have had such a fabulous response from my lovely readers for the Mersey Trilogy and the Lark Lane series and am enjoying planning and plotting stories for my new characters, once more set in my favourite city of Liverpool and surrounding suburbs. I’m really looking forward to working with the Bookouture team again and especially my patient and supportive editorial team: Abi, Natasha and Ellen.

Associate Publisher Kathryn Taussig has also acquired World English rights from Thérèse Coen at Hardman and Swainson for two new novels from Lizzie Page. Publishing in 2020, these new novels – like Lizzie’s previous writing for Bookouture – will be set in wartime Britain and are inspired by the incredible true stories of real people who served.

Lizzie Page says,

I’m absolutely thrilled to be signing for two more books with Bookouture. Kathryn is a fabulous editor and it’s a huge pleasure to work with her. Kathryn helped turn the War Nurses trilogy into something very wonderful and I can’t wait to see what we do with the next two books. There will be women overcoming adversity in a war-time situation (inspired by real-life heroines), there will be difficult relationships, and there will also be some surprises on the way too.

Kathryn Taussig says,

There’s something very special about Lizzie’s writing, which takes the events we read about in history books and makes them utterly personal and human. Her characters are nuanced and genuine, and Lizzie shows real compassion for them – for this reason her books are always very moving. I am so looking forward to working on more novels together – they’re going to be brilliant!

And finally, Commissioning Editor Christina Demosthenous has acquired World All Language rights for two new novels from bestselling author Shirley Dickson, which will both publish in 2020.

Christina Demonsthenous said,

I couldn’t be more excited to be signing up Shirley for two more books. After the exciting success of The Orphan Sisters, which has been a runaway bestseller in both the UK and US, I can’t wait to wow her fans with more heartbeaking, poignant and unforgettable WW2 historical novels. Readers are going to need the tissues on hand for these!

Shirley said,

I am absolutely thrilled to have signed another two book deal with Bookouture. It has been the most exciting year and I look forward to working again with my fantastic editor, Christina and the supportive Bookouture team. Thank you to readers who have bought my books and given such lovely reviews.
