Bookouture has hired Franz Edlmayr as Head of Translations while Jennifer Hunt has stepped up to Publishing Director.

Edlmayr joined the company in early September and reports to Contracts, Rights and Translations Director Peta Nightingale. He was previously Editorial Director at Amazon Publishing where he headed up their German publishing for the past seven years. Over the past five years Bookouture has translated and published 550 of its own bestselling titles into German, French, Italian, Dutch and (imminently) Spanish, selling more than 3.25 million copies, with 2 billion KU pages read. In his new role, and working strategically with Nightingale, Edlmayr will lead the team in the next stage of growth for Bookouture’s translations programme, finding innovative ways to increase reach, readers and revenue across new and existing markets.

Nightingale said,

‘This is such an exciting time for the growth of the  business, and from the moment we first met Franz, his passion for digital publishing and his clear vision and ambition shone through. We’re looking forward to Franz bringing his fresh energy and initiative not only to our translations team, but the company as a whole.’

Edlmayr said,

‘I’m extremely excited to join Bookouture to help our authors reach as many readers as possible around the world and take our translations program to the next level. Creating high quality genre fiction that grabs attention in any format is exactly the kind of publishing I want to be part of, and I’m thrilled to be starting this new chapter with the team at Bookouture.’

In the editorial team Jennifer Hunt has been promoted to Publishing Director. Hunt joined the company in 2017 as a Publishing Executive and has been promoted multiple times since then. She publishes bestselling authors including Helen Phifer, Susanne O’Leary, Willow Rose, Robin James and Mary Stone. She will continue to report to Publisher Jessie Botterill.

Botterill said,

‘Jen is an immensely talented and highly strategic publisher who has been instrumental in improving Bookouture’s processes and performance over the years. She’s a supportive manager and huge asset to the team, and I’m delighted to see her step up into this much-deserved new role.’

Hunt said,

‘I’m very proud to be taking this next step with Bookouture. I’ve built a wonderful list of hugely talented authors, and have learned so much from my colleagues over the course of the last decade. Bookouture has grown exponentially, with bestseller after bestseller, and I know there is even more to look forward to as we continue to grow.’
