We’re super excited today to share the news that Commissioning Editor Jennifer Hunt has acquired world rights to two atmospheric historical novels from award-winning author Ann Bennett.  Both will publish in 2020.

The first tells the story of two women and their connections to Cedar Hall Orphanage in Weirfield-on-Thames. Sarah, who discovers something strange about the orphanage where her father grew up as a child during WW2, and Connie, the young girl who used to live there, who was raised to keep quiet about the goings on at home and has attempted to bury her memories…

Jennifer said,

Ann writes powerful and heartbreaking stories that capture the consequences of war. Her writing is brimming with beautiful descriptions and she creates immensely intriguing and compelling characters. Readers will be carried away by every clever line, and shocked by the secrets these characters find in the past. I’m so excited to bring her writing to more readers.

Ann added,

I’ve been writing historical fiction, mainly about the second world war, for several years now, and this novel is a departure for me – inspired by researching family history. I loved creating a mystery that emerges through the stories of three different women. I’m thrilled that Bookouture are taking me on and flattered to be joining the ranks of their wonderful authors.
